Background

Whilst its history dates back to 1873 when it replaced its former currency system in Sweden, the Krona has experienced fluctuations since that date due to economic factors and global events influencing it. At its inception it was pegged against gold while later transitioning into managed floating exchange rate regime. Throughout its journey it has experienced frequent swings due to changes in exchange rate regime.

Features of Krona II

The Krona is divided into 100 ore; however, ore coins no longer circulate widely. Banknotes come in multiple denominations such as 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Kronor notes that feature famous Swedish personalities or landmarks to reflect its rich cultural history.

Role in Economy

As Sweden's national currency, the Krona plays an essential role in supporting domestic transactions as well as international trade and investments.
