Mettler-Toledo International Inc. - The largest international manufacturer and supplier of scales and analytical instruments. The company's operations are divided into several segments: operations in the United States, Switzerland, Western Europe, operations in China and others. The company was founded as a result of the merger of Toledo Scale and Mettler Instruments AG. Mettler Instruments AG was created in 1945 by engineer Erhard Mettler. Dr. Erhard Mettler developed and for the first time in the world launched the serial production of single-cup analytical balances, which replaced the classical two-cup balances. In 1973, the company introduced the first fully electronic precision scales of the highest accuracy class. Toledo Scale was created in 1901 by Henry Theobald, immediately becoming a successful supplier of a new type of industrial scale. In 1989, the company merged with Mettler Instruments, and in 1992 registered as Mettler-Toledo, Inc. In 1997, the company became public and its shares began to be traded on the NYSE. Mettler-Toledo’s worldwide network of representative offices and services is the largest such network in the world.
