Mattel Inc. – The largest American corporation in the manufacturer of toys, children's books, educational and computer games. It also produces clothes and accessories for children and adolescents, sports and office supplies. Representative offices are located in more than 40 countries. Included in the Fortune Global 500. The company was founded in 1945, as a manufacturer of photo frames and furniture for doll houses. In 1947, the first popular toy company was released – Uke-A-Doodle, after which Mattel began mass production of toys. In 1955, the company became the sponsor of the Mickey Mouse Club and in 1959, the most iconic and successful Mattel toy, the Barbie doll, was released. In 1960, Mattel released the Chatty Cathy talking doll, which revolutionized the toy industry and in the same year, the company became public. In 1963 its shares began to be traded on the NYSE and in 1970, the company created the Radnitz / Mattel Productions film production company and partnered with Mehra Entertainment. In 1979, Mattel Electronics led to a loss of $ 394 million and in 1983 nearly brought Mattel to bankruptcy. In the 90s, the company made a number of major purchases.In 1992, it bought International Games and in 1993 Fisher-Price Inc. In 1997 it bought Tyco Toys and Pleasant Company in 1998. The Learning Company was purchased for $ 3.5 billion in 1999. In 2000, the company entered into an agreement with Warner Bros on the production of toys under the Harry Potter franchise, and since 2002, the production of toys based on the characters of DC and Looney Tunes. In 2010, it was absorbed by HIT Entertainment and in 2013 the Playground Productions film studio was opened.

Currently, the company sells products in more than 150 countries, with a net income of $ 14.9 billion.
